6 Healthy Halloween Snacks for Kids
Pumpkin Cheese Balls
In our book, healthy Halloween snacks for kids that include tortilla chips and cheese dip is a win-win right from the get-go! Simply mix room temperature cream cheese with shredded cheddar, minced onions, salsa, cumin, and a dash of jalapeno (if you’re feeling adventurous!) in a blender. Then, scoop the mixture onto plastic wrap into a ball and chill in the refrigerator. After a few hours, unwrap and serve with multigrain tortilla chips. Yum!
These healthy Halloween snacks for kids are great for getting them involved in the kitchen! Simply start with 2 thick slices of apples and spread a nice helping of protein-packed peanut butter on one of them. Then, add the teeth – you can use white chocolate covered nuts for this. Finally, spread the second apple slice with peanut butter, and place on top of the first slice and voila – scary good monster teeth that are as healthy as they are delicious!
Spiced Apple Cider
Spiced Apple Cider is one of our favorite healthy Halloween snacks for kids because adults can enjoy it, too! This classic fall drink will get the whole family in the spirit for the fall season, and it’s much healthier than hot beverages like hot cocoa. Here is a great recipe for making Spiced Apple Cider yourself at home!
Crispy Fruit Snacks
You can easily turn Crispy Fruit into healthy Halloween snacks for kids with a little imagination! Here’s one idea: fill a pastry bag with mini marshmallows on the bottom, and add a layer of Crispy Tangerines on top. Finally, add Crispy Pineapple above that and tie the bag with ribbon in Halloween colors. Just be sure to place the bags in the fridge until ready to be served, to keep our snacks fresh and crispy!
These sweet treats make for great healthy Halloween snacks for kids and are also great for bringing into classroom Halloween parties at school. And plus – who doesn’t love pumpkin muffins this time of year?! And if your kids suffer from gluten-allergies, you can still make these easily by subbing coconut flour for traditional box mixes. Check out this recipe here for gluten-free paleo pumpkin muffins that look divine!
If you’re looking for more healthy snacks for Halloween for kids to “brew up,” look no further! Recreate a witch’s broom by taking a slice of provolone cheese and cutting fringes for the broom using scissors. Then, roll the cheese around small pretzel stick with the fringes pointing downward. To keep the cheese in place, tie fresh chive around the cheese on the pretzel. Super easy, and super cute!
