FAIRFIELD, NJ – May 21, 2014 – Crispy Green, the maker of Crispy Fruit, single-ingredient freeze-dried fruit snacks, is proud to announce that its product lineup has been has been Non-GMO Project Verified.

Crispy Green received official verification from the Non-GMO Project for its entire product lineup, an achievement that reinforces the commitment Crispy Green has made to provide consumers with the highest quality, healthiest and safest food snacks for families.

GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses and other animals and plants. According to the Non-GMO Project, these experimental combinations of genes cross the natural species barrier and have not been proven safe. Crispy Green’s verified products are produced in compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard, which means Crispy Green has to adhere to rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance, including segregation and traceability to prevent contamination.

“Our single-ingredient products already are safe for our consumers on so many levels, and this designation from the Non-GMO Project is an additional layer of credibility,” says Angela Liu, President and Founder of Crispy Green. “Naturally, we share the concerns about GMOs. Every product we make is not only simple in ingredients, but also made without genetically modified ingredients,” Liu says. “Having the Non-GMO Project Verified seal assures everyone of our voluntary commitment to non-GMO products. Parents want to know that food is GMO-free, and we are thrilled to give them that assurance and peace of mind.”

Liu added that Non-GMO verification is a long, comprehensive process, but getting this verification is something that makes Crispy Green extremely proud.

The Non-GMO Project has gained significant consumer recognition since it began verifying products in 2010. In fact, at the end of 2012, sales of Non-GMO Project Verified products had reached $3 billion, which is more than a 108 percent increase from 2011. With 37 states looking at mandatory labeling, and numerous consumer-driven initiatives in the works, it’s clear that the demand for non-GMO products is going to continue to skyrocket in 2014.
